Timmons Arts Foundation Named Community Organization of the Year

LITTLE ROCK – The Timmons Arts Foundation, a nonprofit organization devoted to promoting awareness and exposure to the arts through arts education, has been named the Community Organization of the Year by the School for Religious Studies in North Little Rock. The award was presented at the 15th annual Capital Awards Banquet held at the Jacksonville Community Center on Oct. 11.

“What an amazing night! I’m truly grateful to the School for Religious Studies for nominating the Timmons Arts Foundation as Community Organization of the Year,” said Theresa Timmons, founder and Executive Director of the Timmons Arts Foundation. “All of the nominees are phenomenal in what they do for the community and are all winners to me!”

The Timmons Arts Foundation was formed in 2011 with a mission to support local arts education. It has provided need-based scholarships for local arts programs, including funding the purchase a musical instruments and purchasing supplies for local arts programs. This year, the organization launched its most ambitious effort, a month-long summer camp that provided daily instruction in various media – visual art, dance, instrumental performance, vocal performance and fashion design – for 65 at-risk students from across central Arkansas at no cost to them.

“Thanks to to our generous donors and sponsors and the efforts of so many volunteers, including our camp counselors and Board of Directors, as well as our extremely talented instructors, this year’s camp was a phenomenal success. We’re excited to already be in the planning process for next year’s camp, and we hope to make it even larger,” said Timmons.
